Yvonne Okoro’s Contract Hits The Streets On Monday

Movie enthusiasts can now heave a sigh of relief as Ghana’s most talked about 2013 movie, ‘The Contract’, produced by actress Yvonne Okoro has finally been released onto the movie market.
The award winning movie directed by Shirley Frimpong Manso was released on DVD on Monday July 1, and is expected to be on the shelves at every movie sale point.
The movie broke premiering records in Ghana and it is expected to repeat the same feat with the sales. It was, perhaps, the first Ghanaian movie to star a South African actor, Hlomla Dandala, in a production in Ghana.
It was also recorded as the first Ghanaian movie to make it to the ReelWorld film festival in Canada. The only Ghanaian movie to receive multiple nominations at 2013 African movie Academy Awards, ‘The Contract’ is definitely a hot movie to see in the comfort of the home at this moment.
It is a story of a successful businessman, Peter Puplampo, the ultimate alpha male played by South Africa’s Hlomla Dandala.
He is 40 years old, rich and a staunch bachelor. Despite his mother’s persistent attempts to find him a woman, Peter sticks to his rule of non-committal casual dates, freedom and being in control of his life until the need to have a child arises.
In his quest to find the woman who will take his money, have his child and disappear, Peter begins a roller-coaster, contracted relationship with Abena Boateng (Yvonne Okoro), a crude but clever local girl who is anything but impressed with Peter’s affluence.
With a clear definitive contract from his lawyer outlining the dos and don’ts of bearing Peter Puplampo’s child, these two opposites must exercise every ounce of willpower not to kill each other until the child is born.
The movie is an unsuspecting romantic comedy with unusual twists that expose the flaws in being in control of one’s life.
