Okyeame Kwame Takes Hepatitis B To Health Minister

Okyeame Kwame and the minister
Award winning rapper Okyeame Kwame on Wednesday led a delegation made up of doctors, philanthropists and journalists to call on Minister of Health, Sherry Ayitey to notify her about his free Hepatitis B screening initiative.
July 28 is World Hepatitis Day. Four years ago in 2009 as Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards, Okyeame Kwame began a journey to help educate and curb the Hepatitis B virus.
As a Health Minister, Madam Sherry Ayitey was well abreast with the dangers of Hepatitis B. She lauded the rapper for his initiative and promised the delegation of government’s support during and after the screening.
Madam Ayitey added that, next year government will take much more active part in the entire process. The meeting was short but fruitful with the promise of better organization next year.
An excited Okyeame Kwame commented that he was excited to have met the minister and interacted with her.
Every year Okyeame Kwame, MDS-Lancet Laboratories and MTN Ghana Foundation conduct clinics around the country, screening and counselling people for free.
This year’s World Hepatitis Day is powered by One Mic Entertainment and supported by Japan Motors, DDP, Vitamilk and CDH Financial Holdings, Radio Gold, Live FM, GhanaGist.Com, GhanaWeb.com, Peacefmonline.com and Nydjlive.com.
