THE NORTHERN SERENGETI IS BECOMING AS BUSY AS THE CENTRAL PART(SERONERA VALLEY) IN TOURIST ACTIVITIES

The establishment of different tourist facilities like Airstrips, luxury tented camps, season camps and a hot balloon (ADVENTURES ALOFT BALLOON SAFARIS) make the northern part of the Serengeti National Park becoming busy as the Central part, the Seronera Valley.

The Northern area used to be cut off from the rest of the Serengeti, but recent years have seen some of the best camps in the country spring up. There are five permanent luxury facilities namely Sayari Camp, Serengeti Bushtop luxury camp, Kuria Hills luxury camp, Mara Singita and Lamai. There are also several seasonal camps, two airstrips namely Kongatende and Lamai Airstrips. The big impact came after the establishment of the second hot air ballon in the park in the Northern area, Adventures Aloft Balloon Safaris which operates in Kogatende area and Togoro. From July through to the end of October the Migration is resident in the area and is the finest place to see the Migration's river crossings; as the herds often cross the Mara River daily. This region has been described as 'ultimate paradise' for keen safari buffs and is the best place for walking safari inside the park. All the mobile camps move up for here for the whole period, Nomad Serengeti Safari Camp, Serengeti Under Canvas, Olakira and of Alex Walker’s Serian.
ACTIVITIES: Game drives, guided walks, bush picnics and sundowners. Good chance of Mara River crossings (from July to October)  and good all-year round resident game.
Kogatende and Lamai Airstrips - Fly in (from Arusha, Dar es Salaam or other nothern Tanzania locations) using scheduled flights (Kogatende and Lamai). Drive in from other northern Serengeti camps.

Adventures Aloft balloon Safaris is the only second company licensed by the (TANAPA) Tanzania National Parks Authority to operate balloons in the country best known park. Adventures aloft has been located two pick up sites in the Northern Serengeti, one in the Togoro Plains area and the other at the Kogatande. The Togoro plains site will cater for the guest staying in and outside Lobo wildlife lodge, While the Kogatande site, close to the Mara River, will serve clients far North the park.
Serengeti Bushtopsis a stylish, permanent tented camp, situated in the Wogakuria area of the northern Serengeti, not far from the Mara River. Between June and November this is usually one of the best areas to stay to try and catch a glimpse of a dramatic wildebeest river crossing. The camp is set over a large area – it’s a 1km walk from the first tent to the last tent – and with only 13 tents, they are significantly more private, and isolated, than other camps in the area.

Rooms- 13 tents (incl. 3 honeymoon tents & 1 family tent). Open All year
Kuria Hills luxury camp. The latest addition to the Lemala Camps portfolio, Lemala Kuria Hills is their most luxurious camp which opened in July 2013. Located in the northern Serengeti, in the scenic Wogakuria Hills, it is about a 30 minutes drive from the Mara River. This part of the Serengeti is a great place to witness the great migration between the months of July to October.

Sayari luxury camp is one of the best camps in the north of the Serengeti. It is a beautifully stylish and well furnished camp that combines luxury with a fantastic point for game viewing.  The food is impressive and the all round service is of a very high standard.  The north of the Serengeti offers a very private experience.  It’s a once in a life time opportunity to see the great migration without huge numbers of other vehicles ruining your picture!

Singita Mara River Tented Camp is the epitome of sustainable tourism and consciously seeks to eliminate the unnecessary use of energy and non-biodegradable materials. In keeping with this philosophy, the camp operates “off-the-grid” and relies entirely on a custom designed solar system for its power and the use of recycled and natural materials wherever possible. Inside the camp, bohemian chic sets the tone for cool relaxation, where spun natural fabrics, canvas, stone and raw leather blend with Maasai primary colours and elegant art pieces by young African designers and craftsmen. The functional East African design encourages guests to embrace the outdoors and connect with nature.
Lamai Serengeti is an absolutely fantastic lodge.  It is of the highest quality and probably boasts the best service in the region.  It sits upon the Kogakuria Kopje, with breathtaking views down onto the Lamai wedge.  It is like a breath of fresh air when compared to a lot of luxurious safari camps with its quirky style and incredible location.
