TV Stations Fight Over Who To First Air Lydia Forson’s ‘Scandal’ Debut

Lydia Forson

Reports saythere is some ongoing brouhaha over who will be the first among the eTV group to broadcast Lydia Forson’s debut role in South Africa’s hit series ‘Scandal’.
Though the esteemed actress’ much anticipated role in the series is expected to air on eTV South Africa on Dstv and other affiliates of the eTV group at the usual time ‘Scandal’ airs, tomorrow, Thursday, April 4, reports say eTV Ghana is contending to be first to show it before any of the affiliate stations air it.
Lydia is expected to look very different in this production as pictures from the set months ago gave that impression.
She played the eccentric and vivacious character of Aku and is expected to thrill her fan base across Africa with her role.
The character of Aku embarks on an online dating mission and soon sets her eyes on Kila (Siyabonga Shibe).
When she makes her way to South Africa to pursue this interest, she finds herself competing with Gloria (Marjorie Langa) for Kila’s attention.
Aku is confident and seductive and leaves no table unturned in luring Kila into her arms. Viewers will have to tune in to see if the attraction beyond borders is successful.
“Scandal has an ever-growing and loyal viewership in South Africa and other African countries,” said Ilse van Hemert in a release last week.
“In particular, Ghana has proved to have a strong fan base and we wanted to acknowledge the support in our storylines. We are excited to be featuring one of Africa’s most esteemed actresses on ‘Scandal’ and trust viewers will enjoy this storyline.”
“We are proud to create opportunities for talented African artists,” said e.tv group head Monde Twala.  “As an African broadcaster, it is our responsibility to provide a platform to showcase diversity from across our continent.”
