ReelWorld Film Festival Opens Without Yvonne Okoro

Yvonne Okoro

The much-anticipated ReelWorld Films Festival in Canada is opening today Wednesday April 10. The festival will open with the screening of Ghanaian movie, The Contract, produced by Yvonne Okoro and directed by Shirley Frimpong Manso.
Reports last week said Yvonne Okoro will make her debut appearance at the festival; but reports suggest Yvonne is currently in Ghana though the festival opens today.
It is yet to be confi
rmed if she will be traveling today for the event or not go at all. But it is confirmed that she is still in Ghana.
Why is she in Ghana anyway? And if she does not go, what happens? Would the movie still be screened?
If it is screened, ‘The Contract’ will be the first Ghanaian movie to make it to the ReelWorld Films Festival since its inception twelve years ago.
Yvonne Okoro needs no introduction in Africa’s creative arts industry. She is a talented actress and recognized as such even among her pals.
She made her screen debut in 2002 in ‘Sticking to the Promise’ produced by Theo Akatugba.
After that, she started receiving calls from producers to star in some of the best movies in contemporary times.
Currently, she has featured in over 100 movies from both Ghana and Nigeria.
She is loved for her riveting roles in ‘Adams Apples’, ‘4play’, ‘The Return of Beyonce’, ‘The Game’, ‘Agony Of Christ’, and ‘Single Six’.
She is a businesswoman and owns Desamour Company Limited which engages in advertising, commercials, event management, real estate and movie production.
‘The Contract’ was the only Ghanaian film that had multiple nominations at the 2013 Africa Movie Academy Awards which is to take place in Nigeria this month.
