Popular and local TV series, Bongo Bar which airs on TV3 Thursdays at 8:00pm has proven to be a force to reckon with among Ghana’s TV series.
The award-winning series is currently doing very well on the screens and stepping up the game ahead of already existing series.
It beat top series like Chokor Trotro, Peep, and Efiewura among others to win the Best TV Series at the just-ended Ghana Movie Awards.
Early last week, the crew and cast of the series took time off production to celebrate its success and prayed for a better year ahead.
NEWS-ONE was there to catch the excitement.
Bongo Baris produced by Showtyme Pictures and directed by award winning director Prince Odei.
Its cast include popular comedian Bishop Bob Okala, veteran actors Adjoa Pee, Adjoa Smart, and Super OD. The rest are Bukom Banku, Sammy B and a number of new faces.
Each episode treats a different topic or theme, educating and entertaining viewers.
Bongo Baris scripted around an entertainment  joint owned by Super OD and managed by his wife Adjoa Pee while his nephew Bob Okala sells at the bar division of the joint.
Its story circulates around the lives of the people who work in the bar: their hopes, dreams and how they deal with the everyday challenges they face.
“The primary aim is to generate humour to our viewers and entertain them as we educate people by telling a beautiful story," Director Prince Odei said in an exclusive interview with NEWS-ONE.
He blended an entire new cast with veteran actors. He thinks it is a great opportunity for them to learn from one another. Furthermore, it will be refreshing to watch the young and old work together, he added.
The crew was not too surprised it won Best TV series because it had worked hard the previous year.
