‘Thor 2’ is expected to make strides in Ghana as it officially opens in the West African country on Friday evening at the Silverbird Cinemas in Accra.
According to a Hollywood reporter, ‘Thor 2’ will be playing in 3,841 North American theaters as of 8:00pm Thursday, including more than 3,100 3D venues.
Overseas, the movie should continue to rack up substantial grosses this weekend, including in China, where it opens Friday, as Ghana.
As a way of comparison, the first Thor took in a total of $449.3 million globally.
Ghana’s opening which is presented by Airtel and My Paddies My Network will be supported by YFM, eTV, DAILY GUIDE, Viasat1, GhOne, Happy FM, TV Africa and NEWS-ONE.
It will attract a lot of personalities in the movie industry and other business moguls.
Thor: The Dark World is a 2013 American superhero film featuring the Marvel Comics character Thor, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is the second Thor film following 2011’s Thor and the eighth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The film was directed by Alan Taylor, with a screenplay by Christopher Yost, Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and features Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins reprising their roles from the first, with newcomers Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Zachary Levi and Clive Russell joining the cast.
