Organizers of the 2013 edition of the Zulu African Film Academy Awards, ZAFAA are calling on movie producers to submit their films for consideration.
Deadline for submission of movies for the awards is June 30. Submitted movies will be screened by a jury ahead of nominations sometime next month.
ZAFAA Award is an event to honour actors, actresses, producers and crew members. It is scheduled take place at London Hilton park lane Hotel, Mayfair W1K 1BE from October 17 to 19.
The ceremony was launched last Tuesday May 28, at the Kama Conference Centre at Labone, Accra.
In attendance were Deputy Minister of Information Murtala Mohammed, Torgbor Mensah, Actors Guild President Nii ODoi Mensah, Kofi Adjorlolo, Eckow Smith Asante, Van Vicker, Roger Quartey, Vivian Achor, FIPAG executives, WIPA (Women In Performing Art), FICA (Film Crew Association Of Ghana) and other stakeholders in the movie industry.
Speaking at the ceremony, President of Africa Film Festival & Academy Awards, UK (ZAAFA Global Awards) Sam Anwuzia, congratulated movie makers for their good work and asked them to do more because the awards is to reward hardworking individuals in the industry so as to boost their morals to work harder.
He added that African movies of late have taken the world by storm and projecting the image of Africa across the world.
He also challenged movie producers to venture into children’s and local movies which have been neglected by a number of people since that is what most foreigners and awards look out for. Mr. Anwuzia assured stakeholders of fairness in the awards.
Mr. Mohammed assured organizers of the event of the support of the President to make the event a successful one. He added that the President has an interest in the creative industry and will do everything to support it.
Currently movies are being submitted to Steve Asare Hackman (Hacky Films), Macdavies Pascal (Gupado Films) and Mustapha A Inusa (Attractive) who are ZAFAA’s representatives in Ghana.
