Kaakyire Kwame Appiah |
Veteran highlife musician Kaakyire Kwame Appiah is planning to stage a new highlife reality show in celebration of top musicians in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
The show will be dubbed ‘Who Are You?’
Basically, Kaakyire and his team will interview people of different status in society and ask them about who they are and also find out about what they think about the state of highlife music in Ghana.
“The reality show is Kaakyire’s way of raising some attention and heightening concerns to recue highlife from a possible extinct,” a close source to Kaakyire Kwame Appiah told NEWS-ONE.
Kaakyire was last in the news over his fracas with fellow highlife musician Samuel Owusu.
“Kaakyire has allegedly used one of Samuel Owusu’s popular songs titled ‘Abusua Kyirika’ for his newly-produced movie without permission from Samuel Owusu.”
The movie was based on the story of the song which was released some many years ago when highlife used to be the most patronized music in Ghana. Interestingly, the movie bears the same title as the song.
Samuel has reportedly threatened to go to court to seek redress but Kaakyire has been sending top members of Samuel’s family as well as colleague top musicians to apologize on his behalf. Meanwhile, Samuel has not given any indication that he will let go.
