A New Look; A New Assignment to Angola!

No, your eyes were not deceiving you, our blog has changed quite significantly.  This change is due to a change in our ministry assignment from Honduras to Angola.  Let us explain.

As we have written our  previous blog Two Radios, over the past year we were preparing for a new prospective ministry in partnership with CAM International in Honduras to provide essential communication equipment to isolated pastors and missionaries ministering in remote areas.

Unfortunately, in recent months the political events in Honduras surrounding the ouster of the sitting President has left the country in a present state of turmoil.  The period of time required for Honduras to return to a state of democracy to support a radio project is uncertain since the implementation of a new communication system could be politically threatening.   In light of the political and security conditions,  MAF began to express concern over the viability of the project.

As this door of ministry seemed to be closing, MAF realized that God was opening another door of ministry for us in a place where our skills, gifts and experience were greatly needed: back in Angola, AfricaIn the '90s, I previously served more than seven years in Angola as a manager and pilot with MAF.

MAF, which serves as a vital ministry partner for a new, burgeoning mission hospital in southern Angola, CEML (Centro Evangelico de Medicina do Lubango), felt that our experience in management, the Portuguese language and the Angolan culture would fill a vital management need for the hospital.  My new management role in the hospital will entail: directing the administration and expansion activities, training Angolans in administrative roles, and integrating a flying doctor / medevac service from the Hospital with MAF's aviation services.

Are we excited about this new assignment?  Yes!  In some aspects it will almost be like 'going home' for me in lieu of my previous time there in Angola.   We look forward to describing more about this assignment through our continuing blog.
