Jamaica Is located in the northern Caribbean and its size is 4,411 square feet. Its highest point is The Blue Mountains.It has 14 parishes and a population of approximately 2.7 million. It is widely believed to be the most exotic tourist destination in the Caribbean. Jamaica has several white sand beaches dotting its coastlines. It is the third largest in the Caribbean behind Cuba and Hispaniola. English is the official language but every Jamaican is familiar with and speaks the local dialect; patois from time to time.
The Jamaican Motto is 'Out of Many One People". The ethnic groups are African, Afro-European, European, Chinese, East Indian, and Afro-East Indian. The Government is a democratic one and the island is a member of the British Commonwealth. Jamaica received its independence from Britain in August 1962. The climate is mostly sunny all year round. Rainy season is May and October. The currency is the Jamaican Dollar. One US Dollar will get you about 85 Jamaican Dollars.

Some well known Jamaican personalities are Bob Marley, Grace Jones, Usain Bolt, and Merlene Ottey.
