The US based hotel chain will continue to grow its presence in Africa by opening a four star, 90 room hotel in Dar es Salaam as well as another hotel in Zanzibar.
The decision was prompted by the growing regional market for business and leisure travel and the top line figures that are already being delivered in its existing African hotels.
Best Western opened its first hotel in Tanzania in 2010, the Best Western Coral Beach Hotel, in the exclusive Msasani Peninsula region.
The two new Tanzanian developments reflect the hotel chain’s wider African expansion plan which has seen it establish hotels in both Kenya and Ethiopia.
The hotel has said that it is also holding conversations with developers throughout the region including in Nairobi, Kampala, Tanzania and Ethiopia in regards to additional future projects.
The tourism sector in Tanzania recently surpassed gold as the primary currency earner in Tanzania.
In 2013 the country welcomed 1.1 million tourists and by 2015 annual tourists could grow to 1.6 million.
