Last week, Mark was able to travel back to Canada to make a meaningful reunion with one of his former Angolan aviation students. Back in the mid – 90’s while serving with MAF in Angola, Mark started a small aviation school in order to train national Angolans in flying and maintenance disciplines. After three years of training in Angola, the students were transferred to MAF’s aviation school in Brazil, as a result of the mounting government red tape required to conduct the school in a nation then embroiled in a civil-war.
After six years of training, these students are enroute to return to Angola with full pilot and mechanic licensing requirements as well as hearts eager to begin ministry again back in their home country.

Mark was excited to connect last week with one of the students, Romaõ Meto and his family, who were visiting the MAF Canada offices in Ontario. Mark had the joy of presenting Romaõ to his home church, a church body that has been instrumental in supporting the students’ training financially and in prayer. It was exciting to not only hear of Romaõ’s passion for ministry in Angola, but also his efforts in starting two churches on the sidelines while taking his technical training! We are sure that God will use him greatly in his new assignment of performing maintenance on the MAF aircraft in Angola.
