TANZANIA IS ONE OF THE BEST PLACE FOR BIRD WATCHING....COME AND SEE BIRDS OF TANZANIA

Being a mix of the East African savannah and the Western rainforests, Tanzania is Africa’s most complete and gratifying birdwatching destination, with more than 1,000 species recorded.
Specialist birding tours are available to Northern Tanzania where 300 species can be spotted within one to two weeks.
The national checklist of 1,100 bird species is the third-highest in Africa, representing more than 10% of the global avifauna, and a well-planned two-week itinerary is likely to result in a trip list of 300-plus species.
Popular savannah game reserves such as the Serengeti and Selous are no less rewarding for birds than for mammals, and make an ideal introduction to the more conspicuous and widespread species. For more experienced birders, the forested Eastern Arc Mountains are the country’s biggest attraction, since they harbour a high proportion of the 35-odd endemics whose range is limited to Tanzania.

Birding is good throughout the year, but the prime season is Sept-April, when resident populations are boosted by the many Palaearctic migrants that spend the northern hemisphere winter in Africa. The European winter also broadly coincides with East Africa’s rainy season, when several resident species undergo an ‘ugly duckling’ transformation from drab brown to bright breeding colours.

SERENGETI BALLOON SAFARIS...So much more!!!

Up and away over the Serengeti
One of the most magically memorable of the Serengeti experiences,
a balloon safari allows you to drift in silence above the splendour of the plains, to dip down to visit the hippo pools of the Grumeti River, and to enjoy a bird's eye view of the wildlife theatre as it is enacted below you.

Balloon safaris are a romantic and evocative way of experiencing the wilderness of Serengeti National Park, as you gracefully and silently fly over the plains teeming with herds of wild life in the early morning. Typically, a balloon safari begins between 6 am and lasts for around 1-2 hours, during which you will likely see the magnificent wildlife below over several square kilometres of the game park. Balloon safaris are held regularly only in the Serengeti and take off from designated sites (in the Seronera area) where the disturbance to animals is kept to a minimum. Your safari vehicle drops you off at the take off site and picks you up from your landing site. The safari is followed by a champagne breakfast in the bush, a fitting end to your memorable flight in the wild.

THE MAAASAI AND THEIR PRESENCE IN NGORONGORO

About 200 years ago the Maasai arrived and have since colonized the Area in substantial numbers, their traditional way of life allowing them to live in harmony with the wildlife and the environment.
Today there are more than 42,200 Maasai pastoralists living in the NCA with their cattle, donkeys, goats and sheep. During the rains they move out on to the open plains; in the dry season they move into the adjacent woodlands and mountain slopes. The Maasai are allowed to take their animals into the Crater for water and grazing, but not to live or cultivate there. Elsewhere in the NCA they have the right to roam freely.
Visitors are welcomed at two designated Maasai cultural bomas one on the road to Serengeti and another close to Sopa Lodge at Irkeepusi village.
One can visit the Maasai Cultural bomas in the NCA to learn more about their unique culture, to take photographs, and to buy mementos.

EXPERIENCE THE STUNNING BEAUTY OF TANZANIA

The faunal diversity of wild life in Tanzania in its national parks and game reserves is dramatic.
There are 310 mammal species (fourth largest in Africa); 960 species of birds (third place in Africa); and many amphibians and reptiles, which are stated to form the fourth largest population in Africa

Tanzania's most well known tourist attractions are located in Northern of the Country and include Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest mountain. Serengeti national park is world famous and has spectacular seasonal migrations of animals. The Ngorongoro Crater is an extinct volcanic caldera with excellent game viewing from the crater rim. The reserve has large herds of wildebeest and zebra, and lions and the endangered Black Rhinos. Tourism is also focused on the coast, especially the islands of Zanzibar, Pemba and Mafia. Game fishing and diving are the main attractions in these islands. There is also a wide variety of destinations for cultural tourism such as Maasai bomas and Bushmen settlements.
